Fusion For Energy
This European organisation was established for a period of 35 years beginning 19 April 2007, is located in Barcelona and has three major objectives:
- As Domestic Agency for the EU, to provide the European contributions to the ITER fusion research reactor in Cadarache
- To provide European contributions to joint projects with Japan for the accelerated development of fusion, the so-called "Broader Approach"
- To coordinate preparatory activities for the first demonstration fusion reactor for the production of electricity, the so-called DEMO, successor of ITER
The stakeholders of Fusion For Energy are Euratom (represented by the EC), the member states of Euratom, and third countries that have collaboration agreements with Euratom in the area of fusion research and/or that wish to become a member of Euratom.
